About Dara
Dara Henry is a children’s book author living in Southern California. When she is not writing, her favorite pastimes include being active in the beautiful California weather, spending time at the public library, and enjoying time with her husband, children, and three cats.
Dara finds inspiration in nature, life experiences, and in watching her children grow. Working as an elementary classroom teacher for many years helped Dara appreciate the beauty and power of children’s literature.

AUTHOR BIO
Dara has a master’s degree in elementary education and worked as an elementary school teacher for many years. While she no longer has a classroom of her own, she still finds joy in connecting with children and families—only now, she’s sharing her stories while visiting classrooms all over the country.
Dara’s debut picture book, Hanukkah Pajamakkahs, was published on September 3, 2024 with Sourcebooks Kids. Her second book, Mazel Tov, Baby! is set to launch September 16, 2025. She is represented by Rena Rossner of The Deborah Harris Agency.
Dara is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), the Association of Jewish Libraries (AJL) as well as several writing groups including, KIDLIT411, Writing for Children, 12x12 Member, and PB_Soar 24.
